Take control of your digital life
Jan 17, 2011
Around 1 billion users around the world have been bitten by the social networking bug using a range of software solutions on the market. The obvious big operators are Facebook and Twitter.
This phenomenon is borne from the desire for people to share their life, often with “friends” who, in reality, are possibly complete strangers.
But what happens when you want to “unshare” things. Ok so that probably isn’t a word but you know what I mean. What happens when you want to take back what you’ve previously shared?
The debate around at present is who owns the content that you may post and how do you stop information from circulating. How do you stop prospective or current employers from seeing photos or content that would or may jeopardize your career? Some US employers have taken screening to a new level asking some job candidates to log in to their Facebook pages during the interview. And what about relationships? The American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers said that 81% of its members had used social media sites to gather evidence in the past five years.
The easy answer is to keep everything to yourself but then where’s the fun in that? The answer is not dissimilar to life before computers and email. Back then if you wanted to share photos with friends, you didn’t post multiple copies to everyone; you invited them around to look at your snaps. That way you shared your content but controlled who saw it and what they could do with it. If we fast forward to today, Gogobeans provides a similar experience. Keep your content private and share each item selectively by inviting friends to view. At anytime, you can turn off that privilege and their access is then denied. But not just photos, it can be any content that makes up your digital life.
As the next generation in content sharing, Gogobeans gives you the platform to share whatever you like but to keep control over who sees it, how long they see it for and who they in turn can share this with. And, with one click, the ability to disconnect anyone from your content.
Take control of your digital life and share content with peace of mind. Gogobeans lets you do what you intended – to share your life with the people you want to and maintain your privacy from the people you don’t.
You don't send files, you bounce beans
Oct 15, 2010
Next time you want to send a large file to someone, look at how easy Gogobeans can make that process. It doesn’t matter whether it is a one page word document or a video, music, pictures or even a whole album. Gogobeans sees the files as the same size, and that’s tiny – less than 10KB.
That’s because you don’t send the file, you bounce a bean which provides that person with access to view your stuff. So now you can bounce a file (bean) from any device quickly and cheaply. No more issues with file size restrictions on email or your system crashing from the file size or, more importantly, your Internet bill increasing because you went over your limit or you are on pay as you go. You can even use your mobile to send photos quickly and cheaply.
Now, all that is great news but our Beans also make for a couple of extra cool features. Firstly, you can see who accesses your files because they have to connect to your bean. So, you can restrict who can access it and also stop people from sending it on to others. Second, you can disconnect someone anytime which means their access is over and they cannot see that item anymore. And finally, you can update the content and the new content will automatically be provided to those authorised people.
So Gogobeans helps you share the biggest and smallest of your stuff with friends easily and cheaply without the risk of it being sent all round the world for anyone to see.
Great to see you on Gogobeans and spread the word!
Keep it, Find it, Bounce it

Technology has made it easier for us to do many things. We have so many devices now that can capture our life and create our digital assets. Laptops, cameras, mobile phones, tablets. Our devices’ memories have replaced photo albums, filing cabinets, address books, video cassettes and records.
What these devices have also done is create an increasing volume of stored data. Ease of pressing save has meant we are keeping so much more. Did you know that experts say that the amount of data we all store would fill the memories of 75 billion iPads. If we were to store it all on CDs, it would create a pile that stretches halfway to Mars!
But has technology made it easier? With so much information on so many devices, how do you find what you want? And in the era of social networking, how do we share stuff without opening our life to the world?
What used to be stored in shoeboxes and photo albums is now lots more shoe boxes and albums such as computers, phones, USB sticks, CDs, remote drives and mobiles – just to name some. What we may have done is effectively make it more difficult. When what we want is "anytime, anywhere, any device", what we have instead is "all the time, everywhere and every device!"
Digital Chaos!!! The solution to all these issues is not too far removed from how the Dewy system revolutionized libraries. Store all your assets centrally and securely, indexing each data item so that a simple search will find it. Sound simple - well it can be!
The phenomenon that is digital asset storage and sharing is here to stay. Gogobeans solves the problems for our subscribers.
Using the cloud as a primary storage device enables access from any connected device at any time. With access comes control over editing, sharing and security - one click access to your digital asset bank. Importantly, it means securing your assets not just in an organizational manner but on a platform that gives you control over who you share your assets with. In today's world of social networking, its not enough to sit behind your username and password - you need to ensure each data item is individually secure in a multi-tiered solution that gives you choice with each asset.
